I met Helena way back in 2008, when we were both studying in Stellenbosch. Soon thereafter our ways parted, so imagine my surprise (and excitement!) when she contacted me to make her wedding dress! It was so much fun to work with Helena, and we always managed to work in a couple of laughs.
Helana and Charl got married in Victoria West in Northern Cape where she grew up. Whenever she would come we would talk about all the wonderful ideas they were planning for their wedding. (I just love hearing all the stories that brides tell me. I really enjoy all the wonderfully creative ideas that brides come up with!) They held their wedding at Camp Nguni, a wildlife reserve. Even the animals came to join in on the festivities, what an amazing sight it must have been! It is such a refreshing change to have a bride who is getting married at a wildlife reserve, I just love the idea!
Helana’s dress was made of bridal satin to give the structure and silhouette. We covered the bodice with pleated tulle to create gorgeous texture. We then used the most beautiful corded and beaded lace to finish off the dress and give it a soft and feminine look. The bottom of the dress we covered with layers and some more layers of tulle to compliment the tulle on the bodice, and also to create the ultimate dramatic effect by creating big volume at the bottom.
I truly hope this day was all you imagined it to be, and more! You both looked spectacular. Congratulations once again Helena and Charl. May you be blessed with happiness, joy and lots of laughter in the years to come.
